Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel
The beauty of sight
Wherever your gaze falls, it confirms that the bay of Mont Saint-Michel is a marvel. Sands, salt marshes, the sea, the sky share the horizon. Light plays with the elements in a changing landscape that reflect the Mont Saint-Michel and the alignments of the mussel.

At the top sites

"The Couesnon, in his madness, put the Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy," but this does not prevent the bay to be in Britain. This outstanding at the northern gateway to the website is a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Several wonderful phenomena are well known: a beautiful sea landscape, tides holding the record for France with 14 m amplitude, a patchwork of polders, mussel alignments, a legendary architectural jewel reflecting the immensity iodine.

At the heart of nature

In the middle of the bay of Mont Saint-Michel Vivier-sur-Mer is moored on the coast deploying voluptuously from Normandy to Cancale. The coastline, stretching over long ranges in the west gets wilder by putting the cap on the tip of Grouin. This succession of sand, spongy strikes, grassy where sheep, household pleasant walks and stunning panoramas graze.

Where mussels grow on "trees"

Emerging from sand fields, lines of 110 piles are planted over lengths of 100 meters. These miles of stakes, where evolve curious paddle boats are the breeding place of mussels. Bivalves attach and grow in clusters on the forest of masts. With this technique introduced in 1954 and a particularly favorable environment, Vivier became the first port of mussel France. To learn more about the activities of these fishermen-farmers and the secrets of this magical place, the House of the Bay offers a permanent and outings on foot or aboard the mytili-mobile exhibition. A great opportunity to change your outlook or watch the tidal bore, amazing wave that creates the surface of the water during high tide.
